Confidence, Mobility, Friendships!
Get Your Move On!

As a parent, grandparent, family member or caregiver of a mobility-impaired, special needs child, what are some of the things that you most want for him or her?

What about confidence?  Capability?  Wouldn’t you want your child to face challenges and overcome them?  Would you like for him or her to be able to sit up with a bright smile?  Hold his or her head up high with enthusiasm?  To be able to stand tall? Even to take steps and eventually to walk?

Would you like for your child to form friendships with other children who face the same challenges, and be able to encourage and support each other?

If these are the things that you want for your child, then Conductive Education bears your most sincere investigation.

Conductive education is a new approach to mobility impairment, brought on by many causes (injury, Cerebral Palsy, other neurological challenges, etc…).  It’s not a cure, nor is it a magical nor instantaneous fix to the child’s struggles.  It’s a method of teaching life and mobility skills that helps children learn how to control their muscles.

Conductive Education works on both gross motor skills such as rolling over, crawling, sitting, standing, stepping, and eventually walking with walkers, canes and freely.  It also targets fine motor skills like grasping, lifting, and manipulating things like forks and food.

A CE “camp” could run anywhere from four to eight weeks, 4 hours each day, 5 days each week.  It’s a challenging but bonding time for the child and parent/guardian, and a wonderful opportunity for the child to make friendships that are truly .  It is amazing to see the progress the children make, the things they learn, and the confidence they build.  It’s not easy, but it can be fun, too!
